HotMedia: Making QuickTime VR Object Movies

ABOUT THESE MOVIES

I created these movies using a VHS camcorder connected to a Power Mac 8500. I digitized the frames using Adobe Premiere's Stop Capture command (which enables you to digitize in single-frame steps).

I cropped and compressed the resulting movies using Terran Interactive's Movie Cleaner Pro. To turn them into QuickTime VR object movies, I used Apple's free Make QTVR Object utility.

Finally, I embedded them using Adobe PageMill 2.0. (For details on embedding QuickTime movies, see Apple's QuickTime VR Webmaster's page.)

Notice how compact these movies are: as small as 34K. One reason, of course, is because of their small frame size. But another is because I used as few images as possible -- there are only nine or so frames in each movie.

Here it is: my first Mac, purchased in January 1984 for the lowly price of $2495 (not including external floppy disk drive).
